Company background

BidMedia was originally formed as a joint venture between Canis Media and Jamie Martin in order to take advantage of the UK airtime brokering market.  Jamie developed a sophisticated online auction that allowed BidMedia to sell teleshopping and gaming slots on TV channels to the highest bidder. Having identified Canis as a DRTV specialist who could put his software to good use a joint venture was launched between Jamie and Canis Media. At the time Chris Parsons was Business Development Director at Canis and he launched the live BidMedia auctions in May 2005. The process of the auction allowed all of the airtime buyers to put their own value on to individual slots whilst maintaining the highest possible return for the airtime owner. In early 2008 Jamie acquired Canis’ shares in BidMedia and has since run the business himself, alongside Chris Parsons who re-joined in December 2008.

The focus of the business has shifted over the past four years, as has the market itself and BidMedia now concentrate on high value, long-term media placements with an enphasis on Freeview.  BidMedia is now the largest broker of Freeview capacity in the UK and continues to generate consistent returns on investment for channel and capacity owners.

Jamie Martin

Jamie is a serial entrepreneur with a wealth of experience in Direct Response marketing, TV shopping, advertising, fulfilment and in commercial management and development. Jamie has worked with the likes of Rene Carayol of “How to pay off your mortgage in two years, and Paul McKenna, as well as managing a string of successful businesses. Jamie has 18 years commercial experience and has been working in TV for over a decade. Jamie heads up the airtime and capacity brokering side of the business.

Chris Parsons

Chris has been working in television for over twelve years, has managed the launch and operation of over twenty digital television channels and has been responsible for the production of thousands of hours of live television. Chris has performed consultancy work for the likes of the Torstar Media Group in Canada, The Express Group in the UK and ChelloMedia in roles as diverse as roles varying from advising on European acquisitions to restructuring businesses. Chris specialises in airtime channel sales and launches as well as business consultancy.
